Installation
Policy
We offer our customers two approaches
to installing new and pre-owned avionics in their aircraft:
1. You acquire, we install:
Because of their volume discounts,
a few national avionics equipment retailers may offer equipment at a lower
purchase price than we can afford to. If a customer prefers to shop around
and acquire equipment on his/her own, we will install it at our normal
competitive rates and guarantee our installation work.
However, should that equipment be
faulty or incompatible and/or later require service, the customer will
be charged for all parts, labor, shipping and recertification costs involved
and, when applicable, will be required to deal directly with that retailer
for required exchange/repair/warranty services.
In our many years of experience,
whatever modest initial purchase savings a customer might realize from
personal purchase of equipment from other sources, the savings are more
than offset by the inconvenience, downtime and total cost of ownership
over the equipment's installed useful life. While we
offer this alternative, we do not recommend it.
By way of illustration, after getting
a purchase and installation quote from us for a panel upgrade, a customer
found he could save $30-$50 per item by purchasing equipment from several
avionics discounters.
Unfortunately, when we began installing these
items, we found problems with the customer-provided units that forced the
customer to attempt return/repair/exchange/restitution directly
from the discounters.
In the meantime, we had to stop in mid-installation,
park and tie-down the inoperative aircraft, while the customer's theoretical
cost savings dissipated.
2. We acquire, we install
When we provide and install new or pre-owned
equipment for a customer our responsibility increases and
we provide a suitable level of customer service and support.
Should that equipment later require
service, when applicable, we will deal with the manufacturer or other source
on the customer's behalf, and our removal, shipping, reinstallation and
recertification costs are at our expense throughout the warranty period.
