7th Annual Youth In Aviation Scholarship |
The San Luis Avionics Youth In Aviation
Program annually awards a $2,000 scholarship to a San Luis Obispo County
resident youth between the ages of 15 and 21. Scholarship funds are used to pay
costs associated with ground and flight training toward earning a private
pilot’s license. Applications are now available for the 2008 scholarship award.
A selection committee reviews all
applications and personally interviews the top finalists. The winner of the
scholarship then has one year in which to utilize the funds at local flight
training facilities. To be considered, all applications must be submitted
by October 1, 2008, with the winner to be named near the end of the year.
Begun in 2000 with the help of donations from
Honeywell International and a local pilot, the San Luis Avionics Youth In
Aviation Program has proven to be a popular success in helping deserving local
youths pursue their aviation dreams. Scholarship funds are raised throughout the
year through various San Luis Avionics’ promotional activities and private
contributions. Tax-deductible donations are also accepted, with all monies
going directly to the scholarship fund. As Program funds grow, multiple annual
scholarships will be awarded.
